Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 6, 2026
RefractiveLensExchange.com LLC, an Arizona limited liability company ("we," "us"), runs RefractiveLensExchange.com. This policy explains what we collect, why, who we share it with, and the choices you have. If you live in Washington, Nevada or Connecticut, also read our Consumer Health Data Privacy Policy.
What we do
We publish educational information about refractive lens exchange (RLE) and, when you ask, connect you with a participating eye care practice in your area for a consultation. We are not a medical practice and we don't provide medical care. Participating practices may pay us for connecting them with people who request a consultation.
Information we collect
Information you give us
When you request a consultation, we collect your name, ZIP code, phone number, email address, age range and what you currently wear to see (glasses, contacts, readers or a combination). The fact that you asked about RLE is itself information about you.
Your consent record
When you check the consent box, we keep a record of it: the date and time, the phone number you gave, the exact wording you agreed to, your IP address, your browser type and the page you were on. We keep this to show that you agreed to be contacted.
Information collected automatically
Like most websites, our hosting provider records technical information such as IP address, browser type, pages requested and the referring page, mainly for security and to keep the site running.
Cookies and tracking
We do not currently use advertising cookies, tracking pixels or third-party analytics on this site.
How we use information
- To answer your questions about RLE and help you decide whether to book a consultation.
- To connect you with the participating practice near you and pass along your request when you're ready.
- To email you a confirmation of your request and explain next steps.
- To contact you by phone, text or email about your consultation request, as you agreed.
- To keep records of your consent and your opt-out requests.
- To keep the site secure, prevent fraud and spam, and fix problems.
- To comply with the law and enforce our Terms of Use.
Who we share information with
- Participating eye care practices. Each ZIP code is served by one participating practice, which we name on the form before you agree. Our patient care team usually contacts you first to answer your questions. We then send your contact details, the answers you gave and a short summary of your conversation with us to that practice when you want to book a consultation. If you tell us you're not interested, we don't send your request to the practice. Some practices may receive requests directly when you submit the form. We may be paid for this. Each practice handles your information under its own privacy practices and, once you become its patient, under HIPAA.
- Service providers. Companies that work for us under contract, such as our website host (Netlify), our customer relationship management system, our AI calling and texting provider, our email delivery service (Resend) and our calling and texting providers. Practices may receive your request through their own systems, such as Salesforce or Red Spot Interactive, which act for the practice. They may use your information only to provide services to us.
- Legal and safety reasons. When the law requires it, or to protect our rights, your safety or the safety of others.
- Business transfers. If our company is sold or merged, your information may transfer to the new owner under this policy.
We don't sell your information to data brokers or list sellers. Because practices may pay us when we pass along your request, some state laws treat that sharing as a "sale." See "Your privacy rights" below.
Calls, texts and opting out
If you checked the consent box, we and the participating practice may contact you at the number you gave, including by autodialed calls, texts and artificial or AI-generated voice, about your inquiry. Consent is not a condition of any purchase. Message and data rates may apply.
Some of our calls and texts are handled by an AI assistant. It will tell you it's an AI, and you can ask for a person at any time. Calls may be recorded and transcribed for quality and to pass accurate notes to the practice; we will tell you at the start of a recorded call. Our assistant provides general information only, not medical advice.
You can withdraw your consent at any time, by any reasonable means: reply STOP to any text, tell the caller you no longer want calls, or email info@refractivelensexchange.com with the phone number to remove. We will honor your request promptly and within the time the law requires, and we will tell the practices we shared your request with.
Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- Know what personal information we have about you and get a copy.
- Correct inaccurate information.
- Delete your information.
- Opt out of the sale or sharing of your information, and of targeted advertising.
- Appeal our decision if we deny your request.
To make a request, email info@refractivelensexchange.com or call (877) 745-8876. We will confirm your identity using information you have already given us, such as your phone number and email. You may use an authorized agent. If we deny your request, you can appeal by replying to our decision with "Appeal" in the subject line; if you're unhappy with the outcome, you can contact your state attorney general. We will not treat you differently for using these rights. We will keep your consent and opt-out records even after a deletion request, because we need them to show we followed the law and to keep honoring your opt-out.
Health information
We are not a health care provider or a health plan, and the information you give us is not a medical record. Because your interest in eye surgery could reveal information about your health, we treat it with extra care. Residents of Washington, Nevada and Connecticut have additional rights described in our Consumer Health Data Privacy Policy.
How long we keep information
We keep consultation request details for 24 months after your last contact with us, unless you ask us to delete them sooner. We keep consent and opt-out records for at least five years, because the law allows claims about calls and texts to be brought years later.
Security
We use encrypted connections (HTTPS), limit who on our team can access lead information, and require our service providers to protect it. No system is perfectly secure, so we can't guarantee absolute security.
Children
This site is for adults. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has sent us information, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will post the new version here and update the date at the top. If a change materially affects how we use information we already have, we will ask for your consent where the law requires it.
